Battle Royale 10th Anniversary 3D: CHECKMATE mash up

To coincide with its 10th Anniversary, Fukasaku Kinji’s masterpiece, Battle Royale, will be re-released in 3D on the 20th of November 2010. The theatrical trailer features a song performed by Tsuchiya Anna and ANTY the Kunoichi called “CHECKMATE mash up”. This is a remix of “Requiem” by Verdi, a song which was used in the original BR trailer back in 2000 and in the movie itself.

Battle Royale is a look into Charles Darwin’s “Survival of the fittest” theory. If push comes to shove, could you kill your best friends? Would your compassion for them raise to the surface or will your survival instinct take a drive and run them over? Remember how they hurt your feelings not too long ago? Why shouldn’t you kill them? Especially since it’s your own life that’s at stake otherwise.
